overview
Oxidized bitumen, also known as blown bitumen or air-blown bitumen, is a type of bitumen derived from crude oil that undergoes a treatment process involving oxygen at high temperatures. In the air-blowing process, when the bitumen becomes stiff its three parameters change. Its softening point increases its penetration value decreases and its viscosity increases. The above parameters that should be changed to obtain oxidized bitumen are the physical properties of the bitumen. It's commonly used in roofing, paving, sealing, and waterproofing products and applications also extend to adhesives, sealants, and corrosion protection. Oxidized bitumen enhances the performance of paints and coatings, providing durability, water resistance, and protection against environmental factors, making it a valuable material in various industrial and construction applications.
